Defense Health Agency Deploys Hypori for Secure Clinical Dictation on Personal Phones

Written by:

The Defense Health Agency (DHA) has deployed Hypori's virtual mobile infrastructure (VMI) platform to give clinicians secure, hands-free access to Oracle Health's ambient clinical dictation technology, Clinical Agent AI, from their own phones. The integration is live today.

The challenge

Clinicians spend hours updating electronic health records instead of engaging with patients. Oracle's Clinical Agent AI addresses that documentation burden, but only if it runs on the phones clinicians already carry. Sensitive data had to stay off those phones, and issuing government-owned devices to the DHA workforce was cost-prohibitive and operationally rigid.

The approach

Oracle Health's tool listens to a patient visit, transcribes it, and updates the EHR. It runs inside Hypori's controlled environment. The clinician's phone is a display and input surface, and PHI, CUI, and application data stay off the device.

“We’re empowering physicians to focus on their patients instead of a screen – reducing data-entry errors and omissions while creating a better patient experience and supporting better-informed care,” said Jim Cushman, President and Chief Product Officer, Hypori. “At the same time, our capabilities significantly reduce the cost of issuing devices to every clinician, giving organizations the flexibility to scale with staffing in a way a fixed device fleet can’t match.”

What DHA gets

  • No second device. Clinicians use the phone they already carry.
  • No new hardware to buy or manage.
  • No need for IT to provision, patch, or physically manage personal devices.
  • No device management on personal phones, which removes the employee-privacy friction that comes with it.
  • More time for clinicians to focus on the patient instead of the EHR.
