What if the tools you're using to secure mobile access are the reason your organization is still at risk?
That's the uncomfortable reality this report surfaces. Based on a survey of 1,000 security, risk, and mobility decision-makers, the 2025 VMI Report finds that legacy mobile security models built on device control rather than data protection are creating as many problems as they solve. 48% of organizations suffered a data breach linked to an unsecured personal device in the past year. 77% of MDM users report major limitations with their solution. And 69% say their current security controls are actively hurting employee productivity. The tools haven't kept up with how work actually happens.
In this report:
- The scale of the failure. Why MDM and MAM are generating persistent security gaps, limited BYOD control, and growing employee resistance, and why 77% of current MDM users acknowledge major limitations.
- The privacy disconnect. 47% of organizations identify employee privacy violations as a top risk, but only 36% are actively doing anything about it.
- The case for VMI. How Virtual Mobile Infrastructure removes the device from the risk equation entirely. No data stored, processed, or transmitted on the endpoint, just encrypted pixels streamed to any device.
- Zero Trust alignment. 86% of respondents agree VMI supports Zero Trust architecture, making it the most accessible on-ramp for organizations struggling with full Zero Trust implementation.
- Investment momentum. 85% of organizations plan to increase secure mobility investment in the next year. 51% say VMI will have the greatest impact on secure mobility over the next three years, above AI-driven endpoint security and ZTNA.
- Regional breakdown. How adoption, maturity, and barriers differ across North America, EMEA, APAC, and LATAM.
